My Current Obsession: Butler’s Pantries

I have always loved a good butler’s pantry but for some reason this amenity is really calling my name right now. Of course our little cottage doesn’t have the space for such a luxury, but someday when we design our ‘forever home’ you can bet it will include one!

If you are not familiar, a butler’s pantry is a secondary space off of the kitchen, often between the kitchen and dining room, where you store items for entertaining; wine glasses, serving platters, china, tea service, wine, spirits, etc. They also typically have a prep sink and sometimes even a dishwasher and wine refrigerator. I prefer what seems to be the most common layout, a butler’s pantry that is like a long, narrow galley kitchen.

Because this is a secondary space, generally closed off from the rest of the house, you can get away with more flamboyant design elements like brightly-colored cabinetry and bold wallpaper. Any space that allows you to have fun with color and pattern is sure to be one of my favorites! This is why I’m currently obsessing and I think you should be too. Look at these gorgeous butler’s pantries. I dare you to tell me you don’t love them!
